Performing Inquisitive Study of PM Traits Desirable for Project Progress

By Sobia Zahra Ambreen Nazir Asra Khalid Ayesha Raana Nadeem Majeed

DOI:, Pub. Date: 8 Feb. 2014

The accountability of a project’s success/failure lies on shoulders of a PM (project manager). Undoubtedly, project management is tough task to bring about and this is the most challenging role within the project. The project manager role varies from project to project and may include communication & negotiation with stakeholders, along with leadership and management of the project. Therefore he must possess both hard and soft skills besides education and expertise to drive his team towards excellence. This scientific documentation presents an ideal blend of responsibilities and skills essential for a project manager to cope with the changing project environment. Technical skills necessary for an IT project manager, further elaborates this study.

Highlighting the role of Requirement Engineering and User Experience Design in Product Development Life Cycle

By Ambreen Nazir Ayesha Raana Nadeem Majeed

DOI:, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2014

Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) has been evolving from last decade from side to side unremitting progression of finest practices, process models and advance life cycles. Already present development models like rational unified process, waterfall model and spiral model have facilitated the people, who are being practicing the new models, to incalculably make their products better on the competence and effectiveness. Nevertheless, there is a need to quantify the product quality with the factors that are away from any traditional criterion like maintainability, reliability and the rest. Accomplishing a product that is technically strong only contributes a little part in sensational product market situation, but to what extent the product fulfills the major needs of the users reveals the real success of the product. Requirement Engineering (RE) and User Experience Design (UED) together make available the comprehended user requirements to product development team for successful implementation of product and further help the development team to resolve any problem that takes place. The paper emphasizes on the role of RE and UED during PDLC and discusses the challenges that comes out after coalition of RE and UED in product development. In the closing section some points are listed for determining these challenges.

Comparative Analysis of AODV and DSDV Performance in Vanets using NS-2

By Anam Mustaqeem Nadeem Majeed Muazzam Maqsood

DOI:, Pub. Date: 8 Jun. 2013

Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) form when vehicles are equipped with devices capable of short-range wireless communication. Vehicular Ad hoc networks involve motion of nodes depending on the mobility model chosen. Three important considerations in simulation of VANETs are mobility models, network simulator and the routing protocols. Selection of appropriate mobility model for evaluating routing protocol leads to efficient simulation results. Performance of routing protocols in VANETs can be measured using four metrics; bandwidth, packet loss, throughput and scalability. This research work is based on the simulation based analysis of Vehicular Ad- hoc networks using NS-2 as the network simulator. Performance evaluation of the protocols is conducted on the basis of four defined metrics and as conclusion is made according to the simulation results.

Performance Evaluation of I.T Project Management in Developing Countries

By Nadeem Majeed Khurram Ali Shah Khurram Ashfaq Qazi Muazzam Maqsood

DOI:, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2013

In recent past, IT industry has seen massive growth. However it is not much mature in developing countries, facing many challenges particularly in project management. As a result performance of IT industry is not up to the mark and unable to provide professional support as compared to internationally recognized standards to public and private sector organizations. There are many challenges such as shortage of skilled and experienced human resources and high employee turnover. Tough and competitive market condition requires the product to be extremely good in performance, timeline and accuracy. Effective project management and collaborative efforts of the Government and IT professionals can make highly successful market for IT projects. Success rate of private sector organizations is high as compared to public sector organizations in developing countries like Pakistan. In this research we have explored the performance of IT project management in public and private sector organizations of developing countries focusing Pakistan, to find out the reasons of project failure and success in both public and private sector organizations.
