A sequence of professional courses of study in Computer Engineering at the authors’ university was initiated. These included Digital Fundamentals, Programmable Logic Design, Computer Hardware and Digital Systems Design. This paper presents a study on how the problem based learning has been used for these courses. It also describes how CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) concepts have been applied with an overview of all the hardware resources necessary to support the degree.[...] Read more.
Complexity of algorithms for the servo control in the multi-dimensional, ultra-precise stage application has made multi-processor parallel computing technology needed. Considering the specific communication requirements in the parallel servo computing, we propose a communication service scheme based on VME bus, which provides high-performance data transmission and precise synchronization trigger support for the processors involved. Communications service is implemented on both standard VME bus and user-defined Internal Bus (IB), and can be redefined online. This paper introduces parallel servo computing architecture and communication service, describes structure and implementation details of each module in the service, and finally provides data transmission model and analysis. Experimental results show that communication services can provide high-speed data transmission with sub-nanosecond-level error of transmission latency, and synchronous trigger with nanosecond-level synchronization error. Moreover, the performance of communication service is not affected by the increasing number of processors.[...] Read more.
In this paper, we give a framework to deblur the blurry frame in a video clip. Two kinds of motion blurring effects can be removed in the video, one is the blurring effect caused by hand shaking, the other is the blurring effect caused by a fast moving object. For the blurring caused by hand shaking, PSF is estimated by comparing the stable area in blurry frame and non-blurry frame, so the Richardson-Lucy algorithm can restore the blurry frame by non-blind deconvolution. We also propose a framework to deblur the motion blurring objects which move fast in the video. The background is reconstructed by the algorithm in each frame, so an accurate matte of blurry object can be extracted to deblur the moving object by alpha matting. Results show our method is effective.[...] Read more.
By studying the policy and desktop management systems theories, referencing the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) policy model and theories of cloud computing, this paper proposed a cloud policy model that can be applied in specific desktop management system. It mainly explains the whole system framework and its implementation mechanisms, and it discusses the problems and solutions that the cloud policy model uses in the desktop management system.[...] Read more.
With the wide employment of modern educational technology, college English teaching is going on a process of replacing traditional educational media with modern ones, which are closely connected with multimedia computers and internet technology to raise its efficiency and quality. However, some problems and challenges still exist in the college English teaching. In order to solve the problems, this article designs a test and collects data to check the effectiveness of the task-based approach within the Internet-assisted multimedia in college English teaching. The results show that Linguistic form was analyzed and practiced with task-based approach which may help the learners notice the linguistic problems and try out new language forms and structures, and that Internet-assisted multimedia has been effective in intriguing learners' interests and greatly enhanced their self-esteem.[...] Read more.
Broadcasting plays a fundamental role in transmitting a message from the sender to the rest of the network nodes in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). The blind flooding scheme causes a broadcast storm problem, which leads to significant network performance degradation. In order to solve the problem, a dynamic probabilistic broadcasting scheme cross-layer design for MANETs (DPBSC) is proposed. DPBSC adopts the cross-layer design, which lets routing layer share the received signal power information at MAC layer while still maintaining separation between the two layers. The additional transmission range that can benefit from rebroadcast is calculated according to the received signal power, which is applied to dynamically adjust the rebroadcast probability. DPBSC reduces the redundant retransmission and the chance of the contention and collision in the networks. Simulation results reveal that the DPBSC achieves better performance in terms of the saved-rebroadcast, the average packet drop fraction, the average number of collisions and average end-to-end delay at expense of the throughput, which is respectively compared with the blind flooding and fixed probabilistic flooding applied at the routing layer while IEEE 802.11 at the MAC layer.[...] Read more.
Most recent schema matching systems combine multiple components, each of which employs a particular matching technique with several knobs. The multi-component nature has brought a tuning problem, that is to determine which components to execute and how to adjust the knobs (e.g., thresholds, weights, etc.) of these components for domain users. In this paper, we present an approach to automatically tune schema matching systems using genetic algorithms. We match a given schema S against generated matching scenarios, for which the ground truth matches are known, and find a configuration that effectively improves the performance of matching S against real schemas. To search the huge space of configuration candidates efficiently, we adopt genetic algorithms (GAs) during the tuning process. To promote the performance of our approach, we implement parallel genetic algorithms on graphic processing units (GPUs) based on NVIDIA’s Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). Experiments over four real-world domains with two main matching systems demonstrate that our approach provides more qualified matches over different domains.[...] Read more.
The web service has great significance and value since it represents a large industrial sector and huge trade interests, but the function of a single web service is too small to satisfy the need of service requestor, so it is necessary to combine a mount of simple services to satisfy the complex and dynamic requirement in practice, then the problem of web services composition is one of the research hotspot. This paper generalized the primary interaction processes between enterprise and customer in marketing, encapsulated the special function for marketing works as the agent, and considered the marketing as the cooperation process of agents focusing on requirements, and based on that a multi-agent based marketing cooperation system (MAMCS) is established and the agent ontology is designed according to JADE, finally the negotiation mechanism is built. The method of multi-agent services aggregation driven by requirement supposed in this paper can improve the utilizing effect of service, reduce the difficulty of services composition, and realize the automatic purpose of services composition. Moreover, by combining the merits of agent technique the initiation and intelligence of the services are improved, that safeguard the best interests of the service providers due to they have an option on requirements.[...] Read more.
