Automatic IoT Based Plant Monitoring and Watering System using Raspberry Pi

By Anusha k U.B. Mahadevaswamy

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2018.06.05, Pub. Date: 8 Nov. 2018

The main objective of this proposed work is to develop an Embedded System for plant monitoring and watering system using Internet of Things, Raspberry Pi as Processor, and sensors for sensing environmental conditions. In this work, IoT concept is introduced to connect devices through Internet and facilitate information access by the users. The system can obtain accurate perception of Environmental information in agriculture field and then transmit the same to users. The system monitors different parameters like Temperature, Humidity, Soil Moisture and Intensity of light. IR sensor is fixed to check any external object entry into the field, in case of intruder detection buzzer will turn on for few seconds. The Motor fixed in the field operates both manually and automatically depending upon Moisture sensor results in soil. Motor automatically switches between on and off stage of pumping action. Results are observed either in web app and monitor.

Inter Integrated WSN for Crude Oil Pipeline Monitoring

By Bhavyarani M P U.B. Mahadevaswamy M B Shrynik Jain

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijcnis.2018.03.05, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2018

An inter-integrated system for crude oil pipeline using Wireless Sensor Network is designed for an incessant monitoring and communication in the desert for a span of 1350 Km from pumping station to harbor stockpiling tanks with 135 distributed control system stations. The proposed wireless sensor network equipment is used to scan the sensor status installed in the pipeline and send the required information utilizing dedicated low bandwidth with Quality of Service level three secured Message Queuing Telemetry Transport. This system generates energy on its own by using the solar panel and stores it in battery banks. Low power controller with Wi-Fi developed by Texas Instruments has been utilized to design a working prototype.

Wireless Wearable Smart Healthcare Monitoring using Android

By Manasa U.B. Mahadevaswamy

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijcnis.2018.02.02, Pub. Date: 8 Feb. 2018

The healthcare monitoring system is very useful for the old age people, cardiac vascular endues and many others for observing vital parameters like blood pressure, heart rate, pulse rate, body temperature etc. The proposed work utilizes 8bit X-Mega2560 microcontroller with an application created for overseers and hospital to constantly watch the patient’s parameters from their home, hospitals etc. The proposed system senses the vital parameters of the patients and sends an alert message to respective caretakers, through Wi-Fi which utilizes COAP conventions. These models are integrated to a simple arduino uno microcontroller to exhibit different functionalities. The system will reduce the cost, empowering the patients who are not able to consult the doctors for diagnosis and also minimize the patient’s transportations. This system will bridge the gap between patient and doctor in real time.

Unilateral Vital Signs Monitoring Systems on IoT

By Vinod Kumar P U.B. Mahadevaswamy

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2018.01.05, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2018

With the consistent development of remote sensor systems and Internet of Things (IoT) different parts of life will benefit. IoT based pervasive human services framework can possibly give blunder free restorative information and alarming system in basic conditions with constant checking. The device will minimize the need of devoted medicinal staff for patient checking and help the ailing to lead an ordinary life other than furnishing them with great restorative medical aid. This paper presents the working model which fuses sensors to gauge parameters like body temperature, blood pressure level & pulse. A microcontroller board is utilized for examining the inputs from the patient. Additionally all the procedure parameters inside of an interim selectable by the patient are monitored. This is extremely valuable for future examination and survey of feeble wellbeing condition. For more flexible restorative applications, this venture can be extemporized, by consolidating continuous parameter observing parameters respiratory thoracic extension belt sensors and annunciation frameworks, in this manner making it valuable in clinics as an exceptionally effective and committed aid consideration unit.

Design and Development of a Smart Device for Energy Monitoring and Control of Domestic Appliances: An Android Application

By Anupama S U.B. Mahadevaswamy

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijigsp.2018.01.05, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2018

Energy management system for the household appliances in terms of monitoring and control is described in this paper. Monitoring the energy consumption is the initial step to reduce it. The smart device is designed and developed that will monitor the load device parameters like voltage, current, power factor, power consumption and frequency. The load device is made to turn OFF/ ON based on the status of the device through the mobile application. To get the measured data and to control the load device an Android application has developed, which uses a mobile-enabled Bluetooth to communicate with the Bluetooth low energy module, which is interfaced to the host microcontroller. Bluetooth module is used as it works well for home automation applications. The proposed device has a simple design, low power consumption, cost-effective and easy to interact with the user.
