According to a recent study, it has been said that “lessons learned” is one of the most important and “value added” aspects of the project management lifecycle. However, it has been reported that it is often the most ignored part of finishing a project. Various reasons have been offered for this phenomenon. This article describes the systematic approach to initiate the project review on the specific project identified for requiring the formal quality audit based on the use of project management information system for having the execution date fixed by the independent quality reviewer with the project manager. Then, the project review process is started by retrieving the lessons learned data from the lessons learned repository, which were collected from the previous project reviews for the relevant ERP implementation projects, for the preparation of conducting the project document review and project stakeholder interviews. A case study methodology was applied to the historical lessons learned data of the ERP implementation projects conducted by the solution provider for their customers in the various industries in Japan, which were retrieved for a period of four years from 2014 to 2017 to analyze how the lessons learned collected from the project reviews of the earlier projects were reused in those of the succeeding projects conducted during the period. Use of lessons learned based on the past project review results was found to be effective in focusing on the specific areas projected for improvement during the processes of conducting the project document review and project stakeholder interviews, as well as putting together the practical recommendations for the findings to finalize the results of the project review, which were to be formally presented and submitted to the customer as the results of the quality audit.[...] Read more.
Collaborative team formation in a social network is an important aspect for solving a real-world problem that requires different expert skills to achieve it. In this paper, we propose an improved African Buffalo Optimization algorithm integrated with discrete crossover operator conjointly with swap sequence for efficient team formation whose members can assist in solving a given problem with minimum communication cost. The proposed algorithm is called Improved African Buffalo Optimization algorithm (IABO). In IABO, a new concept of swap sequence applied to improve the performance by generating better team members that cover all the required skills. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that considers the African Buffalo Optimization algorithm for collaborative team formation in a social network of experts. A set of experiments have been done on two popular real-world benchmark datasets (i.e., DBLP and Stack Overflow) to determine the efficiency of the proposed algorithm in team formation. Recently, artificial neural networks are fund to be efficiently used in clustering algorithms. So, the present paper focuses on the development of a novel clustering method based on artificial neural networks. The present paper uses an enhancement filter to enhance the segments in the input image. After this, the various sub images are generated and features are computed for each sub and edge image. Finally, the Self Organizing Map (SOM) is used for clustering process. The proposed novel method is evaluated with a database of 795 leaf images. Further various Probability Distributed Functions (PDFs) are used to evaluate the efficacy of the proposed method. Since the last decade, many new trends have been introduced to access network technologies and services through internet. Cloud computing is one of those significant technologies that reduce the cost and increase the productivity by providing a variety of services. Recently, cloud computing based system is primarily used for multimedia applications. Over the cloud computing, multimedia applications has some significant quality of service (QoS) requirements such as bandwidth, jitter, latency etc. But due to some limitations in services providing, it is constantly complex to make selection for an appropriate service. Keeping in view the provision of multimedia services through cloud computing, many different concepts and approaches that provide better cloud services under the constraints of QoS attributes have been described in the literature. The goal of this paper is to assess the applicability and provision of multimedia applications over cloud computing through enhanced quality of service. We have identified the primary quality of service msetrics evaluation of multimedia services over cloud computing. Furthermore, under these metrics we evaluated the existing approaches that provide multimedia related services with their strengths and limitations. The reliability of a software depends on the quality. So, the software growth models require efficient quality assessment procedure. It can be estimated by various parameters. The current paper proposes a novel approach for assessment of quality based on the Generalized Weighted Laplacian (GWL) method. The proposed method evaluates various parameters for detection and removal time. The Mean Value Function (MVF) is then calculated and the quality of the software is estimated, based on the detection of failures. Software process improvement (SPI) is an important requirement in a software company. The search for better approach brought different kinds of models with multiple sets of principles for SPI to be founded. The framework is proposed to mainly address an alternative way of achieving a better process capability. The approach focuses on the implementation of SPI which can seamlessly align with the organization nature, day to day business activities, and financial capability. The paper provides the detailed implementation guideline and application of the framework through case study results.
The case study is performed in a software development unit placed under academic institution. The unit is founded specifically for application development for internal and external customers. The case study is designed to be implemented in two software development projects in the development unit. From the ongoing case study, the results from the first project which is completed in six iterations are presented in this paper. Considering SPI implementation, the development team followed the framework and associated procedures throughout the development process. Many researchers and developers are focusing their curiosity on designing and implementing industrial automated systems based on modern wireless communication technologies. In the most of the developing countries like Sri Lanka, the effort of collecting electricity, water and other utility meter reading of every consumer is a very difficult task. It requires a great number of labors for collecting and processing the meters readings. This paper presents an implementation methodology of an Automated Energy Meter Monitoring System (AEMMS) based on Global System Mobile (GSM) and Zig-Bee technology incorporate with microcontroller that aims to diminish this difficult task by introducing an automated process for collecting meter reading data from energy meter in Sri Lanka. Use of GSM network as a medium for AEMMS establishes a cost-effective and two-way connected wireless data communication between energy provider and consumer’s energy meter. Zig-Bee technology provides capability to establish fully coverage in the country by filling the area in which GSM coverage is absence. The AEMMS continuously monitors the energy system and sends information of energy usage and theft detection alert to utility company via Short Message Service (SMS) as well as it sends energy usage bill and power cut alert to the customer via SMS and Email. These days though GPS is a very common navigation system, still using GPS for everybody is not possible due to the lack of technological awareness. So people follow the traditional method of asking location to the local people around. After taking external guidance, even if one reaches the destination place, one is not able to understand the significance of that place. In this paper, we have discussed an implementation of a Mobile Augmented Reality based application called “ARCampusGo". With this application, one has to just scan the structure/monument to view the details about it. Along with it, this application also provides the names of nearby structure/monuments. One can select any of them and then the route to the selected monument/structure from the current location is rendered. This application renders rich, easy and interactive visual experience to the user. The performance and usability of “ARCampusGo" are evaluated during different daytime and nighttime with the different number of users.
